Last Thursday 27 June we crossed the border from Samarkand to Penjikent to discover another country of Central Asia. Tajikistan is almost all mountains (93%) and more than half of the country is higher than 3,000 meters. The first thing we did? Of course a 4 days trekking in the Fann Mountains.

Let me introduce you our team: Gino Bianchino (porter 1), Toni Occhioni (porter 2), Grumpy Donkey (porter 3).

There were also Umar (guide), Parviz (cook) and Khayom (dnkey man).
Day 1
After spending one acclimatisation night in Artuch Base Camp (2,200 meters), we started our ascent towards the Lakes of Kulikalon. We spent one night camping along a beautiful lake, suddenly surrounded by sheep and goats ๐

Day 2
Breakfast at 4am to cross the Alouddin Pass (3860 meters) as early as possible. Itโs summertime and we should have had sun all the time. Bad luck, we were caught in a snowstorm while crossing the pass. It was therefore quite difficult both for humans and for donkeys. But we all made it!!!

Day 3
Finally good weather ๐ We discovered a bit the area around the Alouddin Lakes, enjoying the stunning views, breathing pure air and listening to the addictive sound of water…

Day 4
Last walk in the Valley and goodbye to donkeys. After visiting by car Iskanderkul Lake, we reached Dushanbe to have some rest. Thank you so much Stefania for the hospitality and Mahbuba & family for the lovely evening together ๐
